US Forces Targeted a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Claimed Without Offering Specifics.

Former President Donald Trump has stated that American military assets targeted a "large installation" in Venezuela in recent days. Yet, the former president offered no details on the exact nature or site of the strike, and there has been no further clarification from his team.

Unspecific Comments Made During a Radio Interview

"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a large facility, where the vessels come from. The other night, we knocked that out. So we hit them decisively," Trump reportedly informed GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Implications of a Confirmed Strike

Should a US strike is confirmed, it would represent the first attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon initiated a increase of American strike forces in the region to disrupt narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration asserts operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This stated purpose of the force deployment has evolved into a quarantine aimed at disrupting the country's oil exports.

Online Footage and Administration Claims

Trump has for weeks indicated that American military units are prepared to widen the operations by hitting objectives inside Venezuela, a move that would in theory require legislative authorization.

Video footage shared online on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion reportedly from an industrial area in Zulia state. However, the video or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An administration official allegedly told a media outlet that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Response and Current Military Posture

The Caracas administration has issued no statement on the incident Trump described. Furthermore, there have been no independent reports from within the country regarding it.

The deployment of American forces in the region – a position some have called a naval quarantine – constitutes the largest naval operation of his time in office.

Sources have avoided from describing the action as a full blockade, but have confirmed that about 15,000 personnel are stationed across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to enforce current economic sanctions.
